About

nan.c designs fibre artist nancy wesley

Hi, I'm Nancy

Founder of nan.c designs, felting teacher, wool dyer, and maker of all the cute things.

When I turned 40, life handed me a big reset: newly divorced, raising two boys on my own, and working part-time as a graphic designer.  I needed to find a way to support my family - but I couldn't imagine spending more hours behind a computer.

Needle felting started as a hobby, a quiet creative outlet that helped me stay grounded.  A friend nudged me to teach a class, and it took off.  That one class grew into a business, a community, and a life I love.

Now, I spend my days felting, teaching, designing, and shipping out kits from my cozy studio in the Cowichan Valley.  My home is filled with wool, craft supplies, and a few lovable rescue dogs who keep me company while I work.

Why felting?

Needle felting is slow, soothing, and incredibly satisfying. It feels magical to turn tufts of wool into something full of character.  I see it all the time in my workshops: the energy shifts as people begin to relax, connect and create.  I felt almost every day, and honestly, it still brings me joy.

Why my kits?

My Learn-to-Felt Kits were born from a desire to make felting approachable and deeply enjoyable.  They include:

  • The best quality needles
  • My own hand-dyed wool
  • Step-by-step instructions that actually work
  • An Eco-friendly wool pad
Each one is designed, dyed, packed and shipped by me - right here in Canada.  My goal is to give you everything you need to succeed, whether you're brand new to felting or coming back to it after a break.

If you're looking for a creative escape, a peaceful new hobby, or just the joy of making something with your hands - you're in the right place.

Let's Felt Together

You can follow my current work on facebook or Instagram. Look for me at markets or take a workshop; I love to share my felting process.

"Nancy Introduced me to needle felting about 5 years ago. I immediately fell in love with the craft and have continued to make items, both on my own and by taking several of her other workshops. Nancy’s workshops are fun and so inspiring. She’s a great instructor, helping to build confidence with her gentle guidance as she breaks down the components of the item she’s teaching. I love her workshops and am enrolled in yet another.

Thank you, Nancy, for introducing me to needle felting. It’s a wonderful way to destress in a world that has gone a little sideways. It truly is “good for the soul”. " Constance

"I have taken many of Nancy’s workshops and loved every one!  She is an amazing teacher—clear demonstrations and lots of hands-on individual instruction.  Her book is full of project ideas with clear photos and directions. Can’t wait for the next class." Penny

"I have taken two felting workshops with Nancy. They are so much fun. A great way to spend your afternoon. Nancy is great at teaching you all the techniques needed to felt your project and you are guaranteed to end up with something beautiful to take home. Take a friend and have a happy afternoon learning a new craft." Griffin

"I have never done needle felting before. I took Nancy's class to make a bear, and was so happy with the results of all the participants! Nancy is an excellent and knowledgeable instructor. She went step by step, demonstrating techniques, and was available to help everyone as they worked. She was always kind and supportive of everyone's efforts. I am hooked on needle felting from just one class! Thank you so much Nancy! I look forward to taking more classes from you!" P.Redman
